Hydro excavation is also known as potholing, hydro-digging, soft digging, or vacuum excavation. The process uses pressurized water or air to loosen the soil and a vacuum source to remove the slurry or debris.
Hydro Excavation is a non-mechanical and non- destructive process that allows pressurized water or a high flow of moving air to simultaneously excavate native soils at a controlled rate. This process allows for clean, efficient accurate excavations which require less backfill, less man power, less restoration, and less environmental impact than conventional digging methods. A restricted water flow allows for flawless accuracy. When compared to the conventional back hoe or large excavator, a hydro excavator will remove only the material needed for the repair or inspection while reducing the amount of debris.
